My Great Great Grandparents were John and Anna (Habigar) Hofman. They left their home in Tribitz Boehman Austria and crossed the Atlantic in 1880, arriving in Baltimore Maryland USA to start a new life. Many German migrated to Minnesota. Not sure why they would go way up to cold Minnesota!, but thousands of Germen's did. John and his family came with his wife and 4 of his 9 kids. They had my great grandfather Joesph Hofmann. His wife was Anna (Auer) Hofmann. And They had my Grandfather Leo John Hofman. My Grandfather dropped a "n" on Hofmann. His wife was Ruth (Hartman) Hofman. They had my father Leo Charles Hofman. My mom was Gloria Ann (Haverty) Hofman. That's 5 generation ago. I'm German on my Dad's side and 100% Irish on my Mom's side. I am the 8th of 9 kids. Irish Catholic.
