Bio

I live in the Houston, TX, area, but my family roots are in Searcy County, AR. Two of my ancestors were patriots, one during the American Revolution; the other the War of 1812. I am a member of the DAR as well as USD of 1812. There are other potential patriots that I am researching. My family names include Beavers, Ward, Horton, Ragland, O'Neal, Barnes, Massey and more. Many moved into AR from Wayne County, TN.

I have a degree in English and speech from the University of Arkansas (WPS!) and a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Southeast Missouri State University. I enjoy reading, genealogy, gardening and foreign travel. After my retirement from Cypress Fairbanks ISD in Houston, TX as an administrator in a Texas-sized HS, I began new pursuits including language study. I have traveled to Guatemala more than 20 times since my retirement to work with projects there and to study Spanish. What an eye-opening experience!

My college sweetheart husband comes from the Bootheel (SE part) of Missouri. His Arkansas roots are in Jackson County, AR. His family includes the names McGee, Byrd, Ensminger, Batterton, Fisher, Taylor, and more.
