Bio

I am proud that my ancestors were the first settlers of Hopkins County, Kentucky.

I grew up in Hopkins County, where my family belonged to Providence Rural UMC. As a child, I played in East Lawn Cemetery on many warm Sunday evenings, as my parents attended their Young Adult Sunday School Class suppers. Generations of my family, on both sides, are buried at East Lawn, Old Ashby Farm, and West Lawn Cemeteries. Other ancestors are buried at Zion Brick Church, New Salem, Old Salem, and Townsend Cemeteries.

My grandmother instilled and fostered my love for genealogy and for old cemeteries. Every Memorial Day, we'd travel from cemetery to cemetery meeting up with cousins and near relations. And we never missed an opportunity to have 'dinner on the grounds'. Some my most cherished memories are linked to those picnics and long afternoons talking about family history and those who have passed on.
