I first discovered Find A Grave while doing some genealogy research for my family. I loved that people volunteered to take photos of cemetery markers for people searching for a connection with their own family members. Since I have a bit of fascination with history and appreciate the uniqueness of many old cemetery stones (I grew up in South Carolina and there is nothing like an old southern graveyard to either creep you out completely or instill an instant love and appreciation of old gravestones and mausoleums....I'm the second one). So I decided to be helpful and photograph the local cemeteries as I get time and opportunity while exploring the history written on each monument.
