Bio

I was born in 1950 and raised on a farm outside Junction City, Oregon the farming community of Franklin. I became interested in genealogy of my dad's Thayer family while living in Great Lakes, Ill. while my husband was in the U.S. Navy mid 1980's.
One of my favorite things to do is walk through cemeteries and read the tomb stones. Especially when searching for my family's grave stones. My 2nd gr.grandparents, Gershum VanAtta and Sarah Caroline Palmer VanAtta, came to Oregon from Illinois in 1854 on the Oregon Trail. Ever since I learned that I have wanted to take a trip in a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail to experience what my Gr. Gr. Grandparents did. I have read about covered wagon train trips that are one to five days long.
