I am a Canadian, living on the west coast. My maternal grandparents (Higgins, Mathis, Wire, Southwick) were from Iowa. I have been researching this side of my family for about a decade. My paternal ancestors are Icelandic; my grandmother arrived in Canada in 1902. Both of my parents grew up in Saskatchewan.

Recently, we have been cleaning headstones and taking photos for the pioneer interments at the Catholic OMI Cemetery in Mission, B.C. I am now volunteering with the British Columbia Genealogical Society to add information about the many religious who are buried there, as well as aboriginal people and pioneers.
