I became involved in ancestry more seriously after becoming an empty-nester and retiring from my husband/my 1000-acre and 300 milking cow dairy farm in west MI in 2014. Moving an hour away to a place on a river in the woods - a quiet retreat - lended itself to free time to devote to this, often a form of therapy and unwinding, giving me satisfaction "reuniting" ancestors who were not connected to their parents, siblings, and children on Findagrave. I often go back and forth using FamilySearch.org to add info and/or photos. I concentrate on my own and my husband's families, as well as bring in spouses who marry into the two families. I love shows such as Finding Your Roots, Who Do You Think You Are, and shows that use genetic genealogy to find cold case killers. In a different life, I think I'd like to pursue a career in this field.
