I was born in St. Louis, Missouri. I grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1965 and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1970. I was a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard and received my Honorable Discharge from the US Army in 1973 as a Sergeant (E5). I am married to school teacher Harriet Hopkins Brown. I spent my working career in the Telecommunications Industry and the Industrial Packaging manufacturing business. We retired and moved to San Antonio, Texas to be near our daughters and six grandchildren.
