I am trying to reconstruct a family I never knew. We moved to Calif when I was young and left everyone behind in KY, TN.
Family names include Weatherspoon, Harrison, Sammons,Lipscomb, Verdell, Laster, Brownlow,Allen,Akers, Rorie, Cook, Hubbard,DeGraffenreid, Dupree, DeMyer. Strong ties to Fulton Ky, Union City TN, Hickman KY, Giles TN, Weakley, Henry and Rutherford Cty TN. Athens, TX. Most of the family started in VA or NC and went west over time. Have solid records for family in VA and NC back to 1700's. So exciting finding roots in so many places I have lived or visited. Wish I had started this quest long ago while the elders were alive to fill in the blanks and get over the hurdles. Some of the elders have probably rolled over in their graves at some of the information that has surfaced but that is what makes it interesting to me. I am NOT looking for Royals or War Heroes, although I have both. I am looking for the people and the places that endured hardships, had courage and adventure and maybe a bit of scandal in their lives.
