I take a lot of photos of the headstones at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Many are dim and are hard to read the inscription. If anyone asks me, I can retake any photo under different lighting conditions and try to make it easier to read.
A few years ago, I transcribed a lot of the Internments at Restlawn Memorial Park:
http://www.usgwtombstones.org/texas/elpaso.html
I recorded over 25,000 burials.
The office claimed years ago that there were over
33,000 Internments there.
When I first started the project, I was allowed full access to the office on Saturday mornings. The manager let me use the Sexton records, plat maps, etc.
When the cemetery was sold, the new manager informed me that I was no longer welcome in the office. I had to do the rest by reading each tombstone.
Since I have 23 relatives Interred at Restlawn, I feel that I should have been allowed to finish the project.
Restlawn will NOT give out a grave location unless the requestor is a direct relative.
For that reason, I will limit my volunteer duties to Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
At Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, a grave location will be appreciated, but not necessary.
