Off we go, into the wild blue yonder.....Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force.

I was born and raised on Guam (before it became in danger of tipping over); attended Newbury Park Academy in California ('65-'69). Served in US Air Force for 24 years (March 1971- April 1995). Took two month-long family trips in Europe via Eurail ('91 and '93), bag-dragging all over Europe. We also visited Aleppo, Syria twice and I visited Camapa (Samara), Poccia (Russia) three times.

My wife of 48 years (as of Nov. 17, 2021), Karen, and I lived in Garland (Dallas), TX, since our family's return to the US from Incirlik Air Base, Turkey ('88 to '95)....(NOTE: We've moved to Searcy, AR, 2 days before Thanksgiving 2022). Our kids and their family are planning a 50th anniversary for us here in Searcy, AR.

After basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, my first duty station was Reese AFB (Lubbock), TX ('71-'74). Then, Andersen AB, Guam ('74-'76), Ellsworth AFB, SD ('76-'77), and Randolph AFB, TX (AFMPC '77-'82, HQ ATC '82-'85), Zaragoza AB, Spain ('85-'88), and Incirlik AB (Adana), Turkey, where I retired on 1 Apr 1995 (April Fool's Day).

Our four 'kids' are all married and out of the house....along with our fourteen grandchildren (8 grandsons, 6 granddaughters), AND three 'greats'---great-grandson "Theo" (Allan Theodore IV) and great-granddaughter Estes Claire Javellana (born 3 March), and a second great-grandson Mason Dean Vance.

NOTE: #13 born on Valentine's Day 2016. She followed her 2 older brothers (#11 and #12) who were born at home. #14 born 25 Jul 2020 also born @ home.

In Jan 2019, we returned to Guam via military space A. Three of our four 'children' met us on Guam (sans family): Samantha, Allan II, and Rachel.

Epitaph
.....by Merrit Malloy

When I die, give what's left of me away to children and old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry, cry for your brother walking the street beside you.

And when you need me, put your arms around anyone and give them what you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something, something better than words or sounds.

Look for me in the people I've known or loved,
And if you cannot give me away, at least let me live on in your eyes and not your mind.

You can love me most by letting hands touch hands, by letting bodies touch bodies, and by letting go of children that need to be free.

Love doesn't die...people do.
So, when all that's left of me is love...
Give me away.
