Hey there, family!

If there is one thing I've learned when I began researching my family tree is that we're all related somehow and these people we've never met, but find and read about their lives, can really touch us. I have loved ancestry ever since I was very young. I was obsessed about adoption (I wanted to own an orphanage) and was always heartbroken that these kids who were put up for adoption would never know their families and where they came from, and perhaps if some distant relative knew a family member of theirs was put up for adoption, they would step in. So I've always been interested in ancestry and I'm young and perhaps unseasoned to pre-Internet nitty-gritty research, but as an aspiring author, I take interest and have respect for the written word whether they be original records or family diaries and letters.

I'm mostly focused on my grandparents lines (which are mine as well, by genetics!), but I do get carried away when I find a great lead, which sometimes takes me to some distant cousin's step-siblings family way back in the 1800's. What's interesting is when that cousin's step-siblings family marries someone with the last name of one of my great-great-great grandparent and then the search is on again because they could possibly be related! The search never ends! And as the saying goes, it's not about the destination, but the journey!
