A son of George Louis Camp and Dorothy Harriette (Garrow) Camp, William James Camp was born on June 5, 1944 in Plattsburgh, NY 12901 USA. William has one brother, Robert L. Camp, and two half siblings, Leroy and Beverly Tyndall. He has been married to Terry Sue (NaVeaux) Camp since August 3, 1973. They have two daughters: Julie Marie Camp (born March 19, 1980) and Suzanne Lorraine (Camp) Armstrong (born July 29, 1987). Suzanne married Ian J. Armstrongin 2010 after graduating from Colorado State University in 2009. William was previously married to Barbara LaVigne (married 1964 divorced in 1971). Together they have one daughter, Kimberley Anne (Camp) Rodriguez (born December 18, 1964) who is married to Matthew Rodriguez. Kimberley and Matthew have two children, Dominique Rodriguez(b. 1995) and Julien Rodriguez (b. 1999).
William and Terry live in Cedar Crest New Mexico and have a summer home on Lake Champlain in Peru, NY. William moved to New Mexico in August 1970 after obtaining his PhD in Engineering Physics from Cornell University. He worked for Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque from 1970 until 2006, when he retired as Director of Computing, Information and Mathematics. He subsequently worked for Intel Corporation in a CTO role until his retirement in 2011. William is a Fellow of the American Physical society, is a member of the IEEE, and holds patents on major supercomputer designs.
