I have been fascinated with genealogical research since 1991, when my mother took me through an old cow pasture in Missouri to find the graves of my maternal third great grandparents, John Sheets and Julia Sheets. Their graves were marked with rocks, but their daughter Anna Buchanan's (in the same briar patch) had a headstone. Though I now live in Cowlitz County, Washington, I have been surprised to find here the graves of cousins many times removed.
