Bio

Born and raised in Floresville, Wilson County, TX. Am 6th generation to live in Floresville that I am aware of but could be 7th generation as Sam Houston signed a land grant petition for my 3GGrandfather Elijah S Harper dated 1857. ES was part of Castro's Colony so was in Texas prior to 1847 based upon his deed for 640 acres. The amount of land ES was deeded in Feb 1855 indicated that he and his brothers arrived in Victoria area between Oct 1, 1836 to Jan 1, 1842. Texas was a republic from 1835-1846. That deed was for land in Atascosa / Bexar Co (later Wilson Co-1860) so they moved to Wilson sometimes during the middle 1850s. They were on the 1850 census in Victoria.. My mother's paternal side of grandparents)
My paternal Grandfather was 11 yrs old when his dad was killed in a sawmill accident in Cordele Ga on their way to Florida after leaving KY. The Methodist home sent Ruth (GGMa) money to come to Texas. So he drove his mother & 5 siblings in a covered wagon to Texas arriving in 1900.
So this paternal side of great grandparents came from KY and Mom's paternal side of the great grandparents were the Harpers who came from IL (originally KY).
The other great grandparents on both my maternal & paternal came from Concord, FL on a wagon train around 1890 and many of those families still live in the same area of Floresville. (IE mom maternal & dad's maternal grandparents both came from Concord).
