Bio

I was born in 1952 in Eastman, GA to a father, who was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and a wonderful stay at home mom. I am the eldest of 7 children. I think I have been actively doing genealogy for some 20 to 30 years now; I lose tract. My Burton ancestry traces from Accomack Co, VA to Sussex Co, DE, to Craven and Duplin Co, NC to Burke and Montgomery Co, GA and finally to Dodge Co, GA. I retired from the University of Florida in 2010 and so I have more free time on my hands to work on genealogy research, which is my passion. In the search for my BURTON roots, I have accumulated a significant database of BURTONs originating out of VA, NC, SC and GA, prior to 1850. I try to help others, whenever I can. I am also trying to interconnect all the BURTONs of the southeast prior to 1850.
