Bio

I became deeply interested in my Karas heritage in 2011. My grandfather, Bohumil Soucek, came to America in 1922 after his parents, Matej Karas Jr and Marie Souckova, reached America in 1909 and 1912, respectively.

The focus of my research is centered around my roots in the Czech Republic. I have had the wonderful opportunity of locating one of my third cousins, Petra Dusatkova, who remains living in the village of Olesna in the Havlickuv Brod district of the Czech Republic.

The villages of Olesna and Babice is ground zero for the origination of the Karas and Soucek ancestors.
