I live in Walker Co., Al. My ancestors were pioneers of this community when they came here in the 1800's. They helped to build this community. My gggrandmother, Jane Wilson Lovell Felkins, gave the one (1) acre of land for the Union Chapel Church and Cemetery. My husband and I spend time in repairing broken monuments and keeping a roster of the deceased people buried in the Union Chapel Cemetery. I spend a lot of time at the Cemetery looking. The Union Chapel Cemetery is on the Alabama Historical Cemetery Register due to the the efforts that I put into it. In April, 2015, I raised over $2,000.00 to purchase the Historical Sign which tells part of the beginning History of the Church, Cemetery and Community. The beautiful plaque is located at the front edge of the Cemetery. The oldest grave is dated 1881.
There are more than 200 veterans buried in the cemetery. This includes soldiers of the War Between the States, Spaanish-American War, WW1. WW2, Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and there may be some that I have overlooked.
