Bio

I am youngest of 9 adopted children by
Stanley Eugene Disney and Frances Higbee Martin. I am also a twin. She was adopted with me.

I am the unofficial family historian. All the family was interested in finding their biological mother/father and I was far more interested in my [adopted] father's history.

I have been working on the family tree since 2007. I have found 1st cousins to 5th cousins alive and its been great. Looking for Disney, Martin, Miller, Vansants and Zirkles.

I also found my great grandmother at Pioneers Rest Cemetery in Texas through findagrave.com.

I started my husband's family tree 6 years ago and now have over 69,000 relatives identified. I used to laugh at those that had 50,000 on their tree; as I thought it impossible..... NO LONGER!!

I have found many of my husbands family connections here at findagrave. His direct line is Darby, Ducharme, Lundy, Mays, McClurg, Wilson.

When I visit cemeteries I am there to take pictures of family members but always try to also take pictures of anyone located near by to upload to the site in hopes to help others in their research.

If I own an entry on the site that is not a family member, I would be happy to transfer it.

Family Connections made thru findagrave

I was doing some headstone hunting in Altadena California, looking for my husband's Great Grandmother's burial and made an even more important discovery. You can read the story here

Ancestry DNA Testing Discovery

We were contacted by a 3rd cousin of my husbands thru the DNA testing on ancestry.com and she was looking for information on GGGrandmother Susan "Gangy" . She was fairly new at this searching, and was insisting that this Susan Henley was located in Ohio. Susan is also my husband's GGGrandmother.

I worked for a week straight on this Henley branch and kept hitting a brickwall. I finally said that something just doesn't fit....Doesn't make sense. Go back to your Mom (who was fortunately still alive) and ask some questions. Her Mom had had a stroke so her memory wasn't up to par.

She came back with the name of Susan Creswell which was her maiden name. From there I found her in Louisiana and we unearthed a big family secret. What I unearthed was that Susan Creswell was first married to a Jean Desire Ducharme, had 4 children and then ran away in 1901 in the middle of the night with the children. A newspaper article has Mr. Ducharme searching for them. I found Church parish records recording the children's births.

Susan apparently ran away to Mississippi, hid for at least 20 years and then married a John L. Mays and renamed the children to Mays. This is the surname of my husband's mother. Susan then married at least once more that we can verify, to a Mr. Henley. There are no marriage records as we think she never divorced her first husband Jean Ducharme. Susan only comes out of hiding in the 1930 census. The rest of the information comes from "family"

Susan Creswell raised my 3rd cousin's mother and my 3'rd cousin was trying to put together a family tree for her mother as a gift.

What we got was finding more family, and unearthing a family secret.

Please do not assume that those memorial I made are not related to me. 95% of those I personally added are related. I have over 69,000 members of my husband's tree alone, so I have done the research and made quite a lot of the memorials.
