Bio

Historian, author, and genealogist with advanced experience in Ohio. My focus has shifted from adding graves to documenting them and finding images for the memorials on the site. The following may seem like a lot, but it's designed to make sure I can help you.

PHOTOGRAPHS
I have an enormous backstock of family and community images scanned, and I believe that linking a verified image of someone to their memorial is one way we make connections with those people. A photograph keeps them from being just a grave, a name on a list, or a statistic. Photos I provide to the site have some ground rules regarding my contributions that are reasonable:
-Ask before you copy an image onto another site;
-Give Credit whenever you upload a picture to another site - and -
-Please do not copy any of my images so you can colorize them and re-upload them. Period photography is an art, respect the artist and the media they created.

COMMUNICATION
1) You need to use a form of direct messaging: either Find A Grave's free system or provide an email in your first message.
2) I will not leave messages for you on third-party memorial because you prefer not to use the site's account-to-account messaging, or have an email address available. If you are going to those extremes, it's on you, not me.
3) Harassing messages and insults get reported to Find A Grave, period.

EDITS
Please use the memorial's EDIT feature. Edits should always be based on facts, not an idea extrapolation that seems like it should fit. Feel free to contact me with your ideas, but save the edit feature for verifiable FACTS. I like to get to edit requests as soon as I can, so I usually get to them within a few days.

RECENTLY DECEASED
I do not usually add in recently deceased people. If and when I do, I have had contact with the family, they are aware of it, and I only do it with their blessing. I will not add more information than name, place of burial, and date of death for 90-180 days. My goal is to get these memorials into the hands of family members as soon as possible and allow them the option of what to include.

FAMILY TRANSFERS
1) I will do family transfers in line within Find A Grave policy if the person is not directly related to my family.
2) I will also transfer family members outside of the policy, but please explain your connection.
3) Simply stating "Transfer requested", or "Family transfer requested" in your message without so much as an explanation doesn't work. I want to know that you are and that you are ready to be invested in the memorial and just not someone who is collecting, accumulating, or pumping the numbers.

Be cooperative, be civil, and have fun.
