I started family research in 1983 the old fashioned way; snail mail and family stories handed down both in writing and in personal accounts. Because my father was kind of quiet about his past, this made me all the more curious, so I set out to find out more about the Horn family. Now, 26 years after my Dad's passing (Ross Horn), I have discovered some of the reasons for his silence regarding his father. Everything started to come together and I understood more about myself as well. My mother (Mildred Crawford Horn) had a few secrets as well, so her past was interesting to discover, if not a bit wild. Ha! Actually, not a "bit." Ha! A lot! I've come to realize how important newspaper research is also in discovering more about my ancestors. Without my recent newspaper research, I would not even have discovered half of what I know now in March of 2024. It has really been an eye opener. I currently live in WA state.
