I started my genealogy journey at the age of 12yrs, sitting on my Great Grandmother Goodin's little footstool. I loved her stories about growing up in a huge family and being a tomboy. She gave me a notebook and I wrote down all her family information...Parents, Grandparents, her 16 Siblings, many nieces and nephews and of course her own husband and 16 children. I didn't know it at the time, but I was making Famly Group Sheets for each of her siblings! I looked forward to our summers in Texas so I could learn more and more. And I wrote the wonderful stories, just as she told them to me. Now I'm 70 and I still get excited about every new name I find and every new story. I feel that I'm honoring her memory even now as I find more and more about her ancestors. She would be amazed to know that I now have more than 6,000 people in my tree! Thanks Great Grandmother for giving me a passion for genealogy! I also want to be sure I accurately enter the information on Find A Grave so that others can make the connections to our family. It's a pasttime that became a passion and now it's an obsession. I love it!
