On 1/18/2024 My Hero of Genealogy passed away. I will never be as good as my Mom was but I know she and my Dad are cheering me on
(Dad is shaking his head saying " My Crazy daughter" :) )
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have Many Relatives, Close and Distant Whose graves were NOT marked due to no funds (1600's- present )or so long ago that the stones have deteriorated into the earth

Family Traditions and Family Bibles and Death Records Let many of us know where they rest. So just because there is no stone does that mean they Shouldn't be included in family lines?

Come on people a true Genealogist digs to find the lines...and doesn't jump over those very important limbs of many trees just because there is no marker to prove that they lay X
Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.

I have been an avid cemetery hunter for at least 40+ years, My Mom had us (her children) off gallivanting cemeteries when she started researching my fathers Sutphin clan in the 70's

While growing up many a weekend was spent looking for long lost graveyards and feeling the excitement of finding the final resting place of our relatives..
All of her children when traveling still go through the local phone books for any Sutphin residents..lol

What Mom instilled into us is a gift in my eyes..to remember and honor those before us and never forget where we came from.

Thank you Mom for being my inspiration and my hero, Without your Love, Support, knowledge and patience of my endless supply of question and your roomfull of notebooks and your years of listening to the family histories told to you by so many this Crazy journey would not be possible.

My Lines of research are are Sutphin, Gilmore, Glick, Goads, Nesters, McPeak and all related families in my Beautiful part of Southwest Virginia

My husbands family lines are Armentrout, Argenbright, Blackwell Burns, McGown and Tylers of Rockbridge County Va. and surrounding counties

I happily accept any help ,corrections, new Friends and family members.

We are all on the same quest of finding our forefathers and our kin :)

A lot of the pictures I have posted are newer graves, when I cemetery hunt, I take pictures of all the stones and resting places new and old, that time or weather will allow I never wish to upset any of the families..I simply am trying to save some steps for future genealogist and maybe allow a family member far away to see a picture of their kins final resting place.

Special thanks to my Find A Grave mates Rita McKale, Ron Stewart, Victoria True, Denise Horton , Rich Kreiss for Your help being a sounding board when I'm frustrated and when I am stuck in a "That can't be right" moments.

A Thank You for his help and patience goes to my Friend Michael Nestor as I attempt to figure out the Goads and Nesters that touch so many of the family lines in My part of Southwest Va.

Thanks goes to my partner in Crime ,My Snake & spider killer ,Bee and Black Bear chaser offer.
My Hubby :)
