My mother was from the BEITZEL family of Garrett County. Her great grandfather & 4 sons came to USA from Germany in 1855. I wrote a 300 page hard back book chronicling the history of Beitzel and related families in The Casselman RIver Valley of Md and Pa.
I have found the Find A Grave community a good way to weave these families together on the internet. So in conjunction with this I have also been tracing the history of my husband's family: Abel in New Jersey and Maryland and My father's Harris family in North Carolina. I have really appreciated the help from those who have photographed so many of these sites.
