My youngest & I combined his love of U.S. military history and my love of genealogy & art into a fun and educational pursuit.

Our enthusiasm began many years ago after a springtime trip to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virgina. We were overwhelmed ... the riot of color from the dogwoods mixed with the somber grays of the stones stole my breath away, while famous names like JEB Stuart & George Pickett had my youngster whooping (albeit quietly) & tossing his cap in the air. The die was cast. From then we traveled many miles and poured through many books & documents together, discovering the less-gilded history of these United States, but still appreciating its people. We traveled yearly into Pennsylvania exploring our family roots. You may have found us in the Marx Room of the Easton Library, or haunting the cemeteries of Montour & Columbia counties ...

We spent many years working through our old home county of Gloucester and the adjoining Mathews county photographing & transcribing the cemeteries.

It's been over 16 years now and my little "Chief Navigator" has long been launched into their own adventures in adult life, but I am still working through the cemeteries of my beloved Gloucester and Mathews counties, adding memorials and updating information as I can.
