Bio

The Temme family originally came from Horn, Lippe, Detmold, Germany in 1852. They immigrated to the United States through the port of New Orleans Louisiana in 1852. When the Bark Diana arrived there was a cholera epidemic in the city and they were not allowed to leave the ship. Friedrich Adolph and his, wife Friedricke Temme eventually made there way to St. Louis where my g.g. grandfather died of cholera three days later. The Temme family has been traced back to Johann Adam Themme (original spelling) to 1766. One son, William Henry went to Illinois, another son, Friedrich Wilhelm went to Keokuk Iowa.

The John W. Lohmar family originated in Wokuhl Germany (Prussia) and immigrated to St. Louis Missouri. Eventually, part of the family went to Keokuk Iowa.
