She was born October 1, 1920 in Redkey, IN, and was the daughter of the late Jess and Cora (Moore) Martz.
Ruth was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was very much a trend setter in her lifetime; many would say a lady before her time. She was a very independent and fashionable lady. She retired from nursing as an LPN. She was a very active lady, who accomplished becoming an airplane pilot. She was a member of the Albany Church of Christ, and attended the Selma United Methodist Church. She was very active in her church activities, from teaching Sunday School to serving as VBS director.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Martz; sister, Elizabeth Gutshall; and a grandson, David Hobson.
Funeral services for Ruth will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
