Walter H. Camp, 95, of Wellington died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 in the Wellington Care Center.

Walter was born Aug. 15, 1917, in the Kelley community of Collingsworth County to Dero and Sarah Lewis Camp. He graduated from Dodson High School in 1934 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal husbandry from Texas A&M University in 1939. He married Opal Peggram on June 2, 1956, in Pampa.

Walter served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of Dodson Church of the Nazarene, where he served as treasurer for 40 years. He recently was serving in his 38th year on the board of directors of Greenbelt Electric Co-Op. He was a former board member of Tri County Co-Op in Dodson, Farmers Home Administration and Collingsworth County school board.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Oleta Burquist, Rama Camp, and Syble Thompson; and a niece, Emmy Jane Fraser.

Survivors include his wife, Opal of Wellington; a son, Jeff Camp and wife Marilyn of Wellington; a daughter, Kloette Henson and husband Toby of Clyde; two grandsons, Ryan Henson and wife Jessika and Josh Henson; and two nieces, Sammie Davis of Gig Harbor, WA, and Adelle Read of Garland.
