Son of William Sutherland Taylor and Margaret Ann Phipps.

On March 18, 1931, William Sydney Taylor, aged 35, applied for citizenship to the United States in Morristown, N.J. Born April 22, 1895, in Liverpool, England, he stated that he arrived in the U.S. on January 14, 1930 aboard the S.S. Adriatic. Blonde hair, blue eyed, 6' 1", ruddy complextion, with a scar on his forehead, he stated that he was a butler by occupation and resided at 400 Park Avenue, New York, NY.

On April 27, 1942, William Sydney Taylor, aged 47, stated that he was born April 22, 1895 in Liverpool, England and resided at 45 East 62nd Street, New York City, NY, when he registered for the draft during World War II. He gave the names of Miss H. Haviland of 45 E. 63rd Street and Mrs. Palmer E. Pierce of 45 E. 62nd Street, as persons who would always know his address.

Obituary - William Sydney Taylor, 58, building superintendent of the Brookhaven Township YMCA, died suddenly Friday in his quarters in the YMCA building at 20 Baker Street, Patchogue. A native of Liverpool, England, Mr. Taylor had taken over his duties with the YMCA June 1. He was a veteran of World War I and was a graduate of Liverpool College. He had travelled extensively, having had charge of several world cruises and having served as chief steward aboard the liner Franconia. He is survived by two sisters in England. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pettit Funeral Home in Patchogue with the Rev. Stuart W. Van Cott, pastor of the Patchogue Congregational Church, officiating. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
