Joseph C. Shaffer, 76, died at 2:35 o’clock Thursday afternoon at his home near White after having suffered a cerebral hemorrhage the night before.

He was born near Indian Head May 18, 1874, a son of the late Solomon B. and Clarissa Christner Shaffer and lived all his life in the White and Indian Head vicinity. Deceased was a blacksmith by trade.

Surviving are two sons, Samuel of Scottdale, Star Route, and Ray of Sewickley; two daughters Mrs. Pearl Grace of Rockwood and Mrs. Myrtle Grace of McKeesport; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George of Prittstown and Henry of Reagantown, and seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Witt and Mrs. Elizabeth Meyer of Indian Head, Mrs. Sarah Leasure of Everson, Mrs. Cora Hoffer of Prittstown, Miss Zettie Ulery of White, Mrs., Agnes Flack of Champion and Mrs. Nora Leasure of Scottdale.

The funeral service will be held at the Brooks funeral home at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon with interment in Shaffer Cemetery near Indian Head.
