Stephen was the son of Thomas Abbott and Mary LeGrow. He was married in Berwick, Maine on 27 Dec 1770 to Elizabeth "Betsy" Scruton, the daughter of Michael and Anne Scruton of Portsmouth and Barrington, New Hampshire. Stephen appears on the 1790, 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses for Berwick, ME. He was supposedly a soldier of the American Revolutionary War, but I can find no records that definitively pertain to him. Based on the earlier censuses, he appears to have had a large number of children.
