Born to George R. Campbell and Anna Catherine (Dolister) Campbell on November 14, 1898, in Wisconsin. Harold had four brothers (Edward, Francis, Robert, and Allan) and one sister (Irene). During World War I he served in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster aboard the U.S.S. South Dakota. After his discharge from active duty he married Marguerite Ellen Orr and the family settled in the Santa Rosa area. Harold and Marguerite had five children (Harold, Mildred (Joyce), Vernice, Raeleen, and Karen). During their later years, Harold and Marguerite moved to the Sacramento area to be near their children. Marguerite died in 1968 after a long battle with dimentia, and Harold followed her in death in 1969.
