"Funeral services for Sarah A. Rea, widow of Judge Joseph Rea, were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Christian Church in Savannah, in charge of Rev. A. R. Hunt of Des Moines. Burial was in the Savannah cemetery.

Mrs. Rea passed away Sunday, November 25, 1928, at 10:45 a.m. at the home of her son, Earl Rea, 3145 Central street, Kansas City, Mo., at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 27 days.

Besides the son, at whose home she died, she leaves five other sons, James M. Rea of Independence, John H. of Kansas City, Thomas B. of Omaha, Neb., Claude of Independence, Frank H., of Kansas City; and two daughters, Mrs. Ida Rector of Savannah and Mrs. Ellen Morse of Omaha. She also leaves four grandsons, five granddaughters, two great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; a nephew, James H. Watson of Dearborn; and a cousin, Mrs. I. H. Dungan of Flag Springs.

Mrs. Sarah A. Muse Rea was the daughter of Henry Muse and Mahala Elliott Muse, each of whom were born in Fleming county, Kentucky. In the late forties, Mr. and Mrs. Muse and their family of four small children, removed from Kentucky to Platte county, Missouri, where they settled near Weston. They later moved to Andrew county where they settled on a farm on which Mrs. Rea grew to womanhood and where she met and married Joseph Rea, whose parents had moved to Andrew county from Indiana.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Rea made their home in Andrew county until the nine children born to them were of mature age and where her husband preceded her in death on February 28, 1914. For a few years after the death of her husband, Mrs. Rea maintained her home in Savannah, but later made her home with some of her children. Since May of this year, she had made her home with the family of her son, Earl Rea, in Kansas City, where she passed away Sunday.

Mrs. Rea was a faithful wife, a good mother, a good neighbor and a true friend and among the satisfactions of her life was that of having done her part well in the many and varied rounds of domestic life and whether it was days of sunshine and shadow, she sought to be a wholesome force in maintaining her loved ones in the path of rectitude."
