USMA Class of 1945, Captain Middleton was the pilot of F-51D #44-15236 Mustang night fighter with the 12th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Wing. On April 30, 1951, while on a combat mission, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire, spun in from 2,000 feet and crashed near Miudong, Korea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial, Court Number Eight here Capt Harry R Middleton Honolulu Memorial Courts of the Missing, and he has a cenotaph memorial marker at the National Cemetery in Phoenix AZ. Captain Middleton was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
