Leona was born to Henry August and Matilda Beine Rappard. She attended Globe School, near Worden, and Lawrence Business College, Lawrence. She moved to Lawrence in 1924. She was employeed by First National Bank of Lawrence for 13 years. She also worked with her husband, Elmer C. Pippert (d. 1995), whom she married on 6/19/29 in Worden, at Pippert's Automotive Parts Co. until it was sold in 1978. Leona was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lawrence, where she taught and worked with children and youth for nearly 50 years. She was a member of Quivera Club since 1947. Survivors include a son, Raymond Pippert, a sister, Mae Burgert, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at 4pm Sunday, 11/14/04, at the church.
