Mrs. Ephelia Marie Simon Trahan Monic left her family after 98 years of love and devotion. She was born an Acadian on November 17, 1916 to the parents of Arthur and Marguerite Simon in the village of Leroy. She lived her life with a strong faith, as a hard worker with many talents. She would hand sew numerous baby dresses, baptismal gowns, and knitted booties. Her talent in gardening was most appreciated when she planted white chrysanthemums to sell to the community for All Souls Day. She also gave her life to her mentally handicapped sister, Emedia whom she cared for many years. Her life was an inspiration to all her family as she lived simply and happily.

She is survived by her two sons, Ronald Trahan of Kaplan and Ernest Ray Trahan and his wife, Brenda of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Barry LaFleur of Lafayette, Joey Trahan of Clemmons, NC, and Scott Trahan and his wife, Emily of Maurice; twelve great grandchildren, Paxton Trahan, Ethan Trahan, Paige Trahan, Amiee LaFleur, Andre LaFleur, Beau LaFleur, Carlie Trahan, Taylor Trahan, Bailey Trahan, Hunter Trahan, Gage Trahan, and Remi Trahan; one step-daughter, Delores Monic and her husband, Dr. William Mitchell; and one granddaughter-in-law, Peggy Trahan;

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jules Trahan; her second husband, Lee Monic; her dear friend, Dupry Broussard; her parents; ten siblings, Leonard Simon, Leodise Simon, Ameduise Simon, Exzelda Thibodeaux, Armilise Woods, Eda Meaux, Exina Simon, Emedia Simon, Elina Simon, and Enita Simon; one infant daughter, Mildred Marie; one grandson, James Trahan; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Meaux Trahan.
