Son of Samuel Blain and Catherine Waldron. Husband of Elizabeth Van Doren. Father of Catherine Blain, Dixie Ann Blain, Hannibal Blain, Emma D Blain (probably other children as well).

He was one of the pioneers of Alaiedon Township, Michigan, having settled there in 1836.

His headstone was tall and got broken in half. The part with his name on it was on top, and his daughter Emma's name appears at the bottom of this top half. The top part was made into its own headstone. The bottom part of the stone has the remainder of Emma's information on it. Pictures of both pieces of the stone are attached to this memorial.
