Dies After Long illness;
Was 91 Years of Age

Robert Powell Atkins died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Van Lazenby, in Forest Home, Tuesday after a lengthy Illness.
Mr. Atkins, a member of a Pioneer Butler County Family, would have been 92 years of age in April.
He spent his entire life in the Monterey Community, and was one of the best known and most highly respected Citizen of this county.
He operated a large stock farm and general farm until ill health caused his retirement several years ago.
Mr. Atkins was a Steward in the Monterey Methodist Church for many years, and a prominent in all religious, civic and educational affairs.
Surviving are one son, Lewis W. Atkins, of Monterey; three daughters, Mrs. Lazenby, Forest Home; Mrs. F.H. Clements, Birmingham, and Mrs. W.B. Luckie, Gadsden; grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the Monterey Methodist Church at three o'clock yesterday (Wednesday)afternoon, by Rev. H.F. Wesley, the Pastor, and Rev. E. B. Paul, a former Pastor.
