MELVIN A. (Pety) BUTTS, JR., 1415 Sherman Ave., died at his home on Saturday morning after an illness of four months, aged 15 years. Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of Melvin A. and Betty (Semler) Butts, Sr.
He attended South Hagerstown High. He was an amateur radio operator and a member of the Antietam Radio Association.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Oclavia Bulls, at home; paternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. J. Melvin Butts, Hagerstown, and maternal grandfather, Harry Semler, Hagerstown.
Funeral services were held at the Minnich Funeral Home; interment was in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
