MELVIN ABRAHAM BUTTS, 92, of 1415 Sherman Ave., Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Washington County Hospital. Born Sept. 18, 1917, in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late John Melvin and Grace Swain Butts.
He was employed for more than 30 years by Robert F. Zeigler as a sheet metal worker. He was a Ham radio operator, and loved to paint pictures and build clocks.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Semler Butts; two daughters, Octavia Starry of Hagerstown and Tina Hultslander and her husband, Brian, of Funkstown, Md.; one granddaughter, Courtney Starry of Hagerstown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Melvin A. Butts, Jr.; and one daughter, Rita Sue Butts.
Funeral services were held at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown; burial was in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
