Merle Balmer, 76 of Darlington Twp. died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at his residence.
He was born May 1, 1936 in Beaver Falls, PA. to Merle L. Balmer and Rowena Best Shumaker, and step-father, Orvil "Dick" Shumaker.
He was maintenance foreman at Providence Hospital for 11 years, a lab tech for McDaniel Factory for 10 years, and also worked on the railroad for 4 years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janis D. Campbell Balmer, a daughter, Angel Baby, 4 brothers and 5 sister-in-laws, Bill & Ellie Shumaker of Portsmouth, VA, Jim & Eileen Balmer of Seigel, PA., Richie & Detrie Balmer of Beaver Falls, PA., and Monica Best, of Florida.
Also surviving are best friend, Charles Madden of East Palestine, OH. and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a brother, John S. Best and a sister, Betty Cumberledge.
Friends were received at the Lutton Chippewa funeral home, and the service was officiated by Pastor C.F. Hoffman of First Presbyterian Church of Darlington.
Interment was private in Seceder cemetery.
