Death of Mrs. Kling
The sympathy of the community is extended to Howard P. Kling of 47 day Ave. in the death of Mrs. Kling, which took place Tuesday afternoon after a sickness of two weeks. Mrs. Kling's condition had been critical for a week before. Besides Mr. Kling, she is survived by three small children, Eunice D., Dorothy R. and Malcolm II, the latter less than two years old; and her mother, Mrs. Malcolm P. Ryder, Mrs. Kling was 35 years old and was born in New York city, the daughter of Malcolm P. and Lannette (Corsa) Ryder. She had lived in Westfield for the last 20 years, the Ryder family home being the large and attractive residence at 139 Union St., still the property of Mrs. Ryder, though the latter has been living at 47 Day Ave. for several years. Mrs. Kling was associated with numerous activities in the city and was widely known. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Golden Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Charity circle of the King's Daughters, the Westfield Woman's club, the pistol and revolver division of the Westfield Rod and Gun club and the United States Revolver association. She was considered one of the expert woman pistol shots of this section. A woman who was given in doing kindly deeds. Mrs. Kling will be much missed not only among those of her own age, but by older people of whom she was very thoughtful. The funeral which was held Thursday afternoon at the Kling home, was largely attended and there were many tributes of flowers. Burial was in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield. The service was conducted by Rev. Edward U. Cowles of the First Congregational Church.
