Michael Alan, 45, passed away on May 10 in Oklahoma City after a short illness. 'Checkerz,' as he was known to friends, was born on Feb. 8, 1958 in Frankfurt, Germany, and grew up in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School and also attended the University of Oklahoma and Francis Tuttle Vo-Tech. For many years, he was a disc jockey in clubs in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Michael worked most recently as a network systems administrator for Ivie and Associates, and also worked at Cox Communications. He loved music, animals and technology. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eleanor Tchakirides. He is survived by his sisters: Diane Tchakirides, of Seattle, WA; and Barbara Baldwin, of Edmond; a brother-in-law, Mike Baldwin, and nephew Brett as well as many other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 14 at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to his friend Tony Foss and the nurses and doctors in CCU at Integris Baptist Medical Center for their loving care of Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and coworkers. SMITH & KERNKE 1401 NW 23rd ST.
