Silvia Bowman Abbey.
Silvia Bowman Abbey was born Feb. 22, 1856, in Lafayette township, Medina county, O. She was the third child of William and Sarah Bowman. In June, 1882, she was baptized in a stream in Lafayette by Rev. James Garvin. On Oct. 13, 1888, she was united in marriage with George B. Abbey. One daughter Lena, aged 14 years, was born to them.
Mrs. Abbey was a good neighbor and a kind wife and mother. Those who knew her will not soon forget her pleasant manner and kindly ways. He [sic] deft fingers were always busy in beautifying her home and helping others whenever she could be of service to them. She will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends.
Mrs. Abbey had been in poor health for some time, but her indisposition was not thought to be serious until within the last two weeks. Since that time she had been mostly confined to her bed, and on the afternoon of the first day of the new year, the silent messenger bore her spirit away to begin life in a higher realm. She leaves a husband, one daughter, a father, two sisters, one brother and many friends to cherish her memory.
The funeral services were held at the late home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev, C.A. Lemon of the Baptist church. Interment took place in Spring Grove.
[Note: Like her sister, her name has been spelled in a variety of ways.]
