In 1874, Hattie married the civil war veteran, Albert H. COTTOM. Albert was a widower who lost his wife & first daughter, Bertha. Albert taught school teacher & was later known for his extensive gardens. Hattie & Albert lived in Pennsylvania until Albert moved his family to Wapello county, Iowa. The family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska when their daughter, Kate's health declined due to consumption. It was in Omaha that Hattie died in November of 1893 (per her daughter, Kate's obituary in 1906). At that point, Albert moved back to Wapello county, Iowa.
Hattie gave birth to six daughters & one son (that we know of):
1. Bertha "Bertie" COTTOM (1874-1935)
2. Mary Katherine COTTOM (1876-1906)
3. Flora B. COTTOM (1878-)
4. Jennie May COTTOM (1880-)
5. Nettie COTTOM (1882-)
6. William Franklin COTTOM (1887-1967)
7. Jeanette COTTOM (1890-).
