John Joseph McGrath, age 83, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in Bondville, Illinois, on October 14, 1921, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Ora (Meader) McGrath. Mr. McGrath was a retired boilmaker and a former resident of Carpentersville, Illinois. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. In April of 1984, Mr. McGrath moved to Greers Ferry where he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He had been a member of A.A. for twenty-nine years and served as an officer. Mr. McGrath was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church at Fairfield Bay. He is survived by his wife, Marcella May (Boylan) McGrath of Greers Ferry; two sons, Kurtis McGrath and his wife, Sandra, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Michael McGrath and his wife, Deborah, of Lodi, Wisconsin; one daughter, Shirley Tippett and her husband, Dale, of Okawville, Illinois; one brother, Robert McGrath of Lakeside, California; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. McGrath is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 19, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Tom Keller officiating. Interment will be in Dundee, Illinois. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
