Father: Nathan Schloss, born in Germany
Mother: _________, born in Germany

Edward Emmanuel Schloss, pioneer resident of Converse County, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at his home 12 miles west of Douglas. Death was caused by a heart attack. Mr. Schloss had resided on his ranch, which he homesteaded in 1883, for fifty-two years. He was a native of Virginia, having been born at Richmond. As a young man he came to Wyoming, first locating at Rock Springs, where he worked in the coal mines. From there he came to Fort Fetterman and was the first school teacher at that old army post. Then he took up land on LaPrele Creek, on which he lived until death called him. Mr. Schloss married Margaret O'Brien, daughter of the late Captain and Mrs. John O'Brien, on May 6, 1891. Seven children were born to this union, two sons, William and Walter, having preceded their parents in death. The surviving children are John D. Schloss, Mrs. Birch Anderson, Mrs. Emmanuel Hart, Mrs. Freeman Garrett and Mrs. Richard Burke. Eleven grandchildren also survive. (Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget July 18, 1935; mortuary and cemetery records.)
