Leslie Van Hartley, 62, of Canon City, formerly of Colorado Springs, died Friday at his home in Canon City. He was a retired truck driver and farmed in Baca County until 1958. Visitation will be from noon to 8 pm Monday at Evergreen Funeral Home, Fountain and Union boulevards. Graveside services will be at 11 am Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1001 S. Hancock Ave. Mr. Hartley was born April 16, 1929, in Sublette, Kan. to Lesley Earl and Ula Mamie (McKinney) Harltey. His mother survives and resides in Canon City. He lived in Colorado Springs until 1987 when he moved to Canon City. He served in the Air Force for three years during the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of the Masonic Lodge 158 A.F. and A.M.; and a member of the Southern Colorado Consistory. Mr. Hartley was married Jan. 1, 1955 in Clayton, NM to Lula I. Mathis, who survives. He also is survived by three sons, Robert Van and Richard Lane, both of Colorado Springs, and Earl Brent of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Leslie Nanette Lacy Harrison of Canon City; and six grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, El Paso County Division, P.O. Box 1214, Colorado Springs 80901.
