Thomas H. "Sonny" Barkley Jr., 79, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, in Canonsburg Hospital.

He was born July 3, 1925, in Monongahela, a son of the late Thomas and Catherine Miller Barkley.

Mr. Barkley was retired from US Steel, Wheel and Axle Plant in McKees Rocks.

For several years, he was appointed as a constable at elections in Monongahela, 2nd ward, 1st precinct.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, Machinist 2nd class serving during World War II.

His memberships include the Carroll Legion, James C. Ford Post 949 in Dunkirk and the Sutman Yohe VFW Post 1409 in Black Diamond.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Brounce.
