TOM WAS A FARMER, HE WAS DIAGNOISED WITH LUNG CANCER SEPT OF 1937 AND DIED ON SEPT 10 1938-ONE MONTH AND 2 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTH. HE WAS MY MATERNAL GRANDFATHER. MY MOTHER HIS DAUGHTER WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND HIS BURIAL AS SHE HAD BEEN CONFINED TO BED BECAUSE OF DIFFICULTIES PRECEEDINGMY BIRTH. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY KIND OF MARKER OR MONUMENT FOR HIM. BUT ACCORDING TO THE DEATH CERTIFICATE AND FAMILY RECORDS HE IS BURIED IN THE SATSUMA CEMETERY. POSSIBLY CLOSE TO HIS MOTHER AND FATHER JOHN AND NANCY RAGIN.


Thomas Jefferson Ragin, well known resident of the Pomona district, passed away here Saturday afternoon, after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Satsuma Cemetery, with Rev. Harry W. Tucker officiating.
W. Carl Davis and Son directed the arrangements.
The deceased was 59 years of age, and was a native of Putnam County. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ira Smith of Palatka, a son, John Ragin of Orlando, two sisters, Mrs. A. W. Kinnard of Yelvington, and Mrs. J. H. Cothron of Green Cove Springs, and two brothers, R. L. Ragin and J. E. Ragin of Allenhurst. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 16 Sep 1938.)
